LITTLE PINK SLIPS -- OPTIONED FOR A MOVIE
The book, from publisher G. P. Putnam's Sons, hit in April and involves all the craziness at a fictional magazine called Lady after it's given over to a big, brash, buxom redhead named Bebe Blake, who creates chaos.
Von Zerneck's past film credits include Scott Turow's "Reversible Errors," starring Tom Selleck and William H. Macy, and Joyce Carol Oates' "We Were the Mulvaneys," starring Blythe Danner and Beau Bridges.

GLOSSY!In The Netherlands, this is the cover for Little Pink Slips. (Good luck in explaining to Dutch readers what the original English title means.)
What a difference a year makes. Last spring I was anxiously awaiting the publication of my first novel, Little Pink Slips. Now that same book is being released in paperback. Check out its zippy new cover, which I hope to see in the hands of women relaxing in lounge chairs everywhere. This version includes a Readers Guide for book clubs, raising questions such as “Little Pink Slips reflects on the extent to which celebrity mania infiltrates American society. Do you feel this trend should be reversed and if so, how?” Discuss!
Little Pink Slips has also gone global. For those of you who read Dutch, you can already buy it in Holland with the title Glossy!, because our American idiom “little pink slips” gets lost in translation, and soon there will be editions in Croatia, Russia, Serbia and Taiwan. And Lifetime TV—on a real roll, these days—has optioned the book for a possible movie. The cinematic fate of Magnolia Gold now rests in the talented hands of a Hollywood scriptwriter and producer. Any ideas on who should be cast in the major roles?
Perhaps the most exciting development, for me, is that writing Little Pink Slips has led to a contract with Ballantine/Random House for two more novels. The first of these books (tentatively titled The Late, Lamented Molly Marx) will be released in Spring 2009 and has already been sold in Germany to DVR, a distinguished publisher who will print it as a paperback original for those who sprechen Deutsch. The second novel will appear in 2010 and every day I try to inch it forward, paragraph by paragraph, idea by idea.
For all these developments, I am thrilled, grateful for the incredible support I have received from so many and still, quite dazed. Thank you!
